Sound Camp – Chatting with Lucinda Guy

Recording Kit Ready for SoundCamp 2018

Way back in May, I went to Devon for SoundArt Radio’s Sound Camp weekend. The idea was to get up at four o’clock in the morning and catch the dawn chorus. Sound Art is based on the Dartington Hall estate, this was a perfect opportunity to get away from the noise of the city and work, and reconnect with nature as an direct listening experience.

I chatted with Lucinda Guy about the potential of radio to be a much less formulaic and prescriptive medium. We discussed how active and creative forms of listening offer a different kind of relationship with the world, and more importantly with one another.

Lucinda and I chatted for about half-an-hour. Listen out for the sound of the campers, the blackbirds and the train in the background.
